Some Home Acne Remedies To Put You Out Of Your Misery

It is difficult to get some good home acne remedies to help you get clearer skin. I know I have tried millions of things to get rid of acne but they just keep coming back. I’m sure you know what I mean. It is also a fact that it can occur at any time of your life starting from adolescence. I had clear skin till I hit thirty and then all hell broke loose!

What Is Acne?

First, we need to understand what acne really is before we go about treating them with home acne remedies. Acne is a common skin problem caused by the blockage of skin pores resulting in them getting inflamed. The blockage is caused by oil and dead skin cells which gets accumulated on the skin. Acne is a natural condition due to overactive oil glands in most people in their teens, though it can rear its ugly head even in your twenties and thirties. Acne can also occur in people who take steroids or hormone treatment.

There are different types of acne. The most common ones are blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads are formed when the pores are not completely blocked and some sebum seeps to the surface of the skin. When the pores are completely blocked and the sebum and dead skin cells cannot come out to the surface, then whiteheads are formed. Papules are red and inflamed bumps on the skin with no head. A pustule is an inflamed part of the skin which has a white center.

Some Home Acne Remedies…

Now that we know what we are dealing with, let’s see what we can do to treat them. There are several home acne remedies that can be very helpful in treating pimples. I’ll give you a list of the easiest and most effective ones.

  • There are several fruits and vegetables in your kitchen that you can use as home acne remedies. You can make a paste of cucumber, orange peel or fenugreek leaves and apply them on the affected areas or on your entire face.
  • A very effective remedy is a paste of 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder mixed with 3 tablespoons of honey. If you apply this paste at bedtime every night for a couple of weeks, it could solve your acne problems for good.
  • Rubbing fresh garlic on the acne can prove to be very helpful in getting rid of them, if you don’t mind the smell.
  • Grated potatoes can be applied to reduce whiteheads and blackheads.
  • A mixture of mint juice with turmeric powder does wonders. You can apply it and then wash off after about 20 minutes.
  • Applying pure rose water can bring relief from acne.
  • For really stubborn acne, you could soak some cotton in vinegar and wipe your face with it every morning. It may sting but is one the most effective home acne remedies I know.

As you can see, there are so many remedies for treating acne at home. What you need to do is try out one remedy at a time to see what works best for you. As different people have different skin types and reactions, it is not possible to guarantee that all these methods will work. But when all else has failed, why not try out some of these home acne remedies as well?
